What is a curtain valance?
A curtain valance is a short curtain that is hung at the very top of the window on a curtain pole to frame the window and create a cosy feel. Unlike café curtains, curtain valances usually only cover the upper part of the window and are mainly used as a decorative detail.

How to measure curtain valances
Measure the width of the window to determine whether one curtain valance is enough, or whether you need to hang several curtain valances next to each other, for example for a longer window section. When the curtain valance hangs with pleats, it generally becomes just over half as wide, but the width can be adjusted slightly by pulling out or pushing together the fabric on the pole.
Measure the height from the top of the curtain pole down to the point where you want the curtain valance to end. The height you choose depends on how much of the top of the window you want to cover and the look you want to create.
